Visualization and Law of Attraction for Kids + The Power of Belief + Book Recommendations
Well… I could hardly believe it. But here we were in the public library again, as we’ve been countless times before, my 5 year old and I. And lo and behold, he picks up a book I never even knew existed. A book that is the kids’ version of something I read for the very first time on a very fateful day 3+ years ago. A book about how you can and do use your thoughts, your mind, visualization, your imagination to shape your very life. A book aimed at teaching kids this incredible yet incredibly simple way of life.
And the reason it seemed familiar? The logo, the emblem on the book! This was actually written by Skye Byrne, Rhonda Byrne’s daughter. Wow. What are the odds?
You see, I came across The Secret by Rhonda Byrne back in 2013. And the path my life has taken was absolutely triggered from the message I received, I heard for the first time within that book. That you really can have, do and be what you want in this world – and that your consciousness is shaping your life experience in every moment.
I would go on to read the master teachers she mentions in the book. Michael Bernard Beckwith, Neville Goddard, Ernest Holmes and more. They led me to master thinkers like Napoleon Hill, Jim Rohn and even Tony Robbins.
Way truly does lead onto way.
My son and I checked out the book and have been reading it again and again for weeks. I imagine it was inspired from a real life event that author experienced… something Rhona Byrne shares in one of her books.
They had ‘lost’ their little dog. He had gone missing from their backyard and disappeared into the woods. After spending the first bit of time worrying, calling and fretting, they suddenly stopped and realized they needed to apply ‘the secret’.
In case you’re not familiar, the secret is a method of the law of attraction. It is acting as if. It is pretending things are just as you want them. It is believing with all of your heart and mind that what you want is actually true. It is visualizing, it is faith, it is gratitude, it is all of that.
They set to work immediately, acting as if their sweet dog had returned. They set out his food bowl. They spoke to him. They lay out the blanket for him as they always would at nighttime. They relaxed in their hearts and minds. They imagined and visualized he was home safe with them.
Of course, in the end of the story, yes, their sweet little dog did return home, no worse for the wear.
The book, “The Power of Henry’s Imagination,” takes a similar path, with the little boy losing his beloved stuff animal. He’s instructed to pretend that his stuffed animal is still with him, not lost. He’s asked to employ his powers of imagination to pretend that the toy is returned.
Of course, also in the end of this story, the stuffed animal does re-appear, as someone finds him along an outside path.
Now, if this kind of thinking is new to you, you have a couple of choices at this point. 🙂
- You can dismiss it out of hand and choose not to subscribe to the “New Thought” movement or “Science of the Mind” or “Law of Attraction… LOA” or being a “Conscious Creator” It’s called many things but basically I generally refer to it simply as creating a life you truly love, and yes, I employ some metaphysical techniques and spirituality to go about it.
- You can start reading more about it, here on the blog, in other books and be open-minded about it
If this kind of thinking is absolutely resonating with you, I’m right there with you.
This blog is dedicated to acknowledging that you are indeed a conscious creator. That you can indeed have, do and be what you want. That you can create, sculpt a life you truly love in every way.
That there is a spiritual and energetic quality to everything we do.
That there is something metaphysical transpiring that is affecting the nature of our reality.
And it’s utterly astonishing, once you dive into it and begin playing with it and accepting it.
As a parent, I tell you, I am finding more and more as my son gets older, that I so want to teach him the values I now subscribe to. That life can be joyous, easy, flowing. That struggle is not required. That we are NOT here to be tested, but we are here to enjoy, to experience. That we are POWERFUL creators of our reality.
Those are the messages I want for my children. And I’m very mindful and conscious of what I say to him, what beliefs I am passing along to him, and how I’m teaching him.
Visualization, Imagination, The Power of Belief and LOA for Kids
This book is a wonderful addition into our lives because of its simplicity for little kids. If you’d like to check it out here, it’s available on Amazon.
I also have to tell you that now that I’m digging around on Amazon looking at this book, I’m finding an entire niche of books aimed at teaching kids ‘right thinking’ from the start, and I’m getting very excited.
If you’ve ever thought of doing vision boards with your kids…
if you’ve ever felt it was wrong to say to them “We can’t afford that,” but weren’t sure what else to say when they wanted something expensive…
if you’ve ever pondered why we’re okay with putting up artwork in our kids’ rooms that say, “DREAM BIG” or the famous Dr. Seuss quote I have in my son’s room, “You have brains in your head and feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose,” and simultaneously caught yourself telling them why they can’t do x,y, and z, why ‘society doesn’t work that way’, why life is hard, then please subscribe to this kids’ section.
I’d love to be able to send you updates when I find new inspirational wisdom for teaching our kids. I’m going down this rabbit hole in full faith that it is the right thing to do for our kids. Won’t you join me?
