I’ve always found inspiration through others. Role models, leaders, mentors. But it wasn’t until I actually became a coach myself that I truly began to value what coaches do, understand what they do, and begin paying for coaching myself.
Since receiving my training at Duke here in North Carolina a few years back, I’ve had the unique of honor of personally touching many lives.
I’ve also hired my share of coaches during that time. I’ve paid as much as $1500 a month for two sessions of coaching. That’s how much I value it. I’ve hired a Business Coach, an Internet Marketing Coach, a fellow Duke colleague for Purpose & Clarity, and more.
Why did I and why do I continue to invest in coaches?
It’s because I’ve figured out the tremendous value they can provide. And I’ve experienced first-hand what it is like to have a partner in my goals. Someone who has been there before and been successful. Someone who will hold me accountable, and someone who believes in me and my vision.
What do I provide as a coach? I’ve spent years guiding beautiful souls through transformational life change. Moving from one state to a new state of being.
I help people create a life they truly love, align with their purpose, support spiritual and personal growth.
What do you need in a coach? And Why You Need a Coach…
You need to get specific.
Because if you want to know public speaking skills, hire a public speaking coach.
If you want to know how to market yourself through facebook ads, hire a coach for that strategy.
If you want to maintain a healthy weight, find a coach that specializes in nutrition or fitness.
And if you want to connect with your higher purpose, awake with renewed clarity and focus, connect your spirituality to your business or end overwhelm and confusion about life -I’m your girl.
Here are 3 reasons you may want to hire a coach:
1. You are not an island. Don’t go it alone. I’m a big fan of self-directed personal growth. I say, grab all the free meditations, online lessons and books you can. But when it comes to real life change, you need a partner.
Friends, spouses and co-workers are a valid part of a support system. But relying on them for facilitating your life change, your personal growth is not going to provide the results you seek. Friends are likely to listen kindly, and then give advice.
It is not the same thing as working with someone who gives you undivided, non-judgmental, open, present attention for a full hour – allowing time for reflection and deep questioning. I’m the kind of coach that simply doesn’t give advice anyway. 🙂 All of the answers are already within you. I simply draw them out.
2. You are ready for change & are committed. Or as some would say, you may be sick and tired of being sick and tired. Hiring a coach is a commitment and there’s usually a catalyst that moves you to a state of being ready, really ready for change.
Most coaches have stipulations on the minimum time. My last coach required a 6 month commitment. I require 3 months. Why the stipulation?
Because we know that life change doesn’t happen overnight. Because one insightful conversation, however profound it may be, does not have momentum.
Because it is actions and new thought patterns that evolve over multiple conversations that truly move you.
You need a change when you are hungering for change. When you are ready to up your game. When you are ready to follow in the steps of someone who has been there before and succeeded. When you are tired of what is.
3. A good coach believes in you. When you are connected with the right coach, you will feel supported instantly.
You need a coach when you are ready to realize the value in having someone hold out a strong vision for you, based on what you truly want, and who believes you can achieve it.
Some of my most profound work is done behind the scenes of working with my clients. During conversations with them, I can literally see them thriving, having what they truly want and loving life. While they may not be crystal clear on this vision in the early days of the coaching process, that clarity comes for them as well.
What a thing of beauty to know someone is holding in their mind’s eye this image of your ultimate well-being. The energy of that gets communicated. Clients feel that and start to believe. If you want that for yourself, you may want to consider hiring a coach.
In the early days of my coaching experience, I coached anyone and everyone. I thought I could help people with any particular need through my skills and the coaching process I was taught. In truth, the coaching process I use did help those individuals, sincerely.
But the truth is also that it is wise to narrow down your search for a coach based on the specifics they provide. It’s been a long time since I tried to coach ‘everyone’. 🙂
I want you to be thoughtful about where you invest your coaching time, money and energy.
If you want to learn how to build a website, invest in a tech coach.
If you want to establish your brand, invest in a branding coach.
Those are highly specialized endeavors. You know what you need.
If you want to tap into your spirit, your true self, your personal growth or align your energy to support your business or your well-being, as I said, I’m your girl. But it has to be the right fit. That’s how it serves everyone best.

You have to know that you are worth it. You have to own that.
I sometimes hear from beautiful people who are so willing to put money into various things to support their business or their well-being – even if money is tight, but not willing to consider investing in a life coach. I hear things like “I am really living paycheck to paycheck right now and can’t afford coaching.” And in the next breath they say “I am hiring a web designer to re-do my website.”
Or, I’ll hear something like this, “I’m living at the near poverty level with my income right now. Coaching is absolutely out of the question.” And in the next breath they may say, “I’m taking this new course on x, y, z or I’m enrolling in a new class at the university or I’m starting a new group exercise program at the gym.”
Why do you think there is this divide between what a client ‘can’ afford and ‘can’t’ afford?
I sincerely believe with all of my heart that these beautiful souls would benefit tremendously from coaching (but I don’t try to convince them).
Coaching would ultimately help them more, to the point where all of the other things they feel they need to do (take a new class, hire a branding expert, get a new photographer or re-vamp their website) – those things would flow much, much easier with the deep personal and spiritual growth that occurs in coaching.
That’s why I feel it is part of my role to teach the value of coaching.
Mentally, it seems it is easier to spend two thousand dollars on a website than on coaching. I get it. Yet a year from now, you’re re-doing your website because it didn’t fully resonate with what you truly want to offer in the world. Where are you placing your value? On outside, exterior circumstances, or internally on aligning your energy with growth that will truly serve you?
Fortunately I have a state of grace in my life that allows for the right clients to come to me at the right time. There is no convincing needed. And when you are ready, there will be no convincing needed. You will just know.
One thing you’ll never, ever, ever get from me is a sales call. I allow grace to take over and that is truly how I magnetize clients to me.
Time is our most precious and valuable resource. That is why I only accept new clients who have completed an application and are ready and willing. By signing up with me, I am also making an investment in you.
I have created a life I truly love by serving, by structuring my life so that my family time is protected, my lifestyle is easy and flowing and my clients really cannot wait to work with me.
I only coach part-time, taking on a handful of clients at a time. This time is sacred work for me. It is touching lives – deeply, profoundly. It is emotional work. It is life-changing.
There is not enough action/acting in the world to replace what aligned energy will do for you in your life. Want to learn more about what I do? Here are the details.
ps: Very interesting side note: Did you know that Tony Robbins begins taking on new clients at a price tag of $1 million for a year-long commitment? He doesn’t even accept everyone who is willing to pay him that. He requires (no matter who it is, it could be a world-famous athlete, politician, actor, billionaire stock broker or musician) to write him a letter letting him know why he (Tony Robbins) should invest his time in them.
Now, does Tony Robbins serve people in other ways? You bet. From free recordings you can get at the library (how he started out as a young teen) to special events (I loved Unleash the Power Within in Florida) to coaching with his team and more, you can access his teaching numerous ways. He serves thousands upon thousands. But isn’t it interesting how he takes on new 1:1 clients?
Wow, I’d imagine he has some pretty motivated clients. Ha!
Bless the success of others. You’ll draw more success to you.
